Straub Hospital
Straub liked what we had done for the cable tension awning out back and asked us to do something similar but grand for their courtyard. The solution was to make a canopy approximately 75′ x 35′ using single tube rafters. The challenge was that the engineering called out the rafter to be 6″, which was larger than we could bend in-house, and the length presented challenges in painting and transport. We were able to order the bent tubes from CA, and we manufactured our own diablo connections (splice component) that allowed us to make each rafter in two 17′ long parts and then bolt/weld them together on-site. The cover was split in half and installed through double sides keder tapped and bolted to the center rafter. All the cables are 316 stainless steel 3/8″ diameter, and all fabric/cable plates were manufactured in-house from stainless plate and then powder coated. Serge Ferrari Proof 502
